Sunday September 9th. Firstly! Lets start with the expo on Saturday. I am SO glad I went (Well I had to really) The sun was out and it really was a lovely day! I walked around the booths they had, and there weren't many but practically every single one was giving out freebies, and you know just how much I love freebies. I got this huge bag filled with everything from cereal to shampoo. I guess I must be a messy eater. Hmmm. I bought myself a pair of tri capri's that are personalized. Sort of. I'm officially a "Tribabe". Love it. I picked up my race packet and I was a bit miffed to find out I would have to trek all my stuff to the transition area from the parking lot which felt like half way across town. It all worked out in the end, it really wasn't that far, but having someone there with me would have made it easier with all my stuff.
I got the pants in the mail a couple of days ago. It seems that I'm fabulous and not a tribabe. Bugger. I can't be arsed sending them back and I have been waiting on them a long time. I'll just have to order another pair for next year won't I?
Here's my race report and some pictures from the triathlon.

Event warmup:
The walk from the parking lot to the actual race area was warm up enough, nearly half a mile!

Comments:
I thought I swam faster. Sheesh. I passed so many coloured hats too and I only saw 3 other pink caps from wave 7 in front of me when I got out. My googles were fine, my suit was fantastic, I felt good, nerves weren't bad at all. Compared to my last 2 swims I'm really proud of myself.

Just go for it!

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took me almost 7 minutes because running across the transition area aka the parking lot was like running on glass!!!!!! OUCH!!!!!! The ball and heels of my feet were cut. No seriously they were. Ask anyone who's done this, they'll say the same.
Swallowed half a gel and offski I went.
What would you do differently?:
Lay shoes near T1 entry way after the grass next time.

Ok. I don't know what happened. My breathing really gave out. I mean really. My chest hurt, burned like crap. I did stop for a milisecond to catch my breath. I had to.

I chose a rack on the inside nearer the fence and because there were loads of room and not quite everyone in my wave was back I managed to sit down to take off and on shoes. Longish run out of the transition area.

Comments:
Failed again. Really were lots of hills, legs hurt, feet hurt, head hurt. Waa waaa waaa. Ran alongside some 1st timers and chatted and congratulated. Loads of fun. Loads of people out cheering. It was so good!!!! Not disappointed at all at how slow I am.
What would you do differently?:
Practice hills. Become a better runner all round.
Post race
Warm down:
I had to walk back to the beach to get my crocs! So I stretched a little, drank some water, ate a banana chatted with some people. Wanted to jump back into the water and swim for a bit.
What limited your ability to perform faster:
My recent not eating dilemma, bike and inability to run. I have trained for this. This is #6 and my FIRST season and I'm fearing I'm a little burnt out.
Event comments:
When I went to the expo on Saturday to pick up my race packet etc. I was given LOADS and I mean LOADS of freebies! BUT when I asked about parking and a shuttle, absolutely no one had any clue what I was talking about. I was a bit miffed by having to cart all my stuff with me at 6am 1/2 mile to the transition area. It didn't help that my husband decided not to come after all. Won't stop me from doing the race again next year. Hopefully it will be as sunny as it was!
When I got home I weighed myself. I weighed in at 175!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!
